Good Day and Praise God

Good Day and Praise God

This morning I attended mass at my hometown parish and the parish where I grew up and made most all my early sacraments Our Lady of Guadalupe in Alice, Texas. Praise God.

Esta mañana asistí a misa en la parroquia de mi ciudad natal y en la parroquia donde crecí e hice la mayoría de mis primeros sacramentos de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Alice, Texas. Alabado sea Dios.

A Morning Before the Tilma

A Morning Before the TilmaA Morning Before the Tilma

Before dawn the plaza at Tepeyac is already full — pilgrims who walked through the night, wrapped in blankets against the cold, waiting for the doors of the Basilica to open.

We spent the morning before the tilma in that quiet. The image of Our Lady has been venerated on this hill for nearly five centuries, and still the words she spoke to St. Juan Diego are the ones pilgrims carry home: "Am I not here, I who am your Mother?"

The Nine Days Begin on December 3

The Nine Days Begin on December 3

The nine days of preparation for the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe open on December 3 and close on the eve of December 12. Each day carries its own intention, from the message of Tepeyac to the protection of life.

The novena can be prayed anywhere — in a parish, in a hospital room, or at the kitchen table. Our nine-day page keeps your place as you go, so the days are walked in order.
